A Des Plaines man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he slashed two people with a knife in northern McHenry County.
Police said Miguel Hernandez-Solorzano, 32, hid in a barn outside a residence near Richmond Saturday evening, waited until one of his victims appeared and then slashed that person in the back.
A second person saw the attack, attempted to intervene and was also cut with the knife as the two victims struggled against Hernandez-Solorzano, according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s office news release.
When deputies arrived, they located the two injured people inside the home and found Hernandez-Solorzano outside, where he was being detained by family members, police said.
Hernandez-Solorzano is being held in McHenry County jail on $5 million bond on attempted murder and burglary charges, police said.
The two people he’s accused of attacking were taken to separate hospitals and suffered non-life threatening injuries. At the scene, Hernandez-Solorzano was treated for injuries to his face and arrested.
