Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
I played football in high school — starting nose tackle. I loved it. The camaraderie. The discipline. Even the violence.
To this day my right ankle makes a loud, crackling sound. It’s a souvenir from a pulling guard who stomped on it. When I limped to the sideline my coach yelled at me to get back into the game. Good times.
As we learn more and more about the detrimental effects of playing football, I find I would be less and less likely to let my own kids play. For all of the wonderful life lessons learned, I’m just not sure it’s worth the damage.
