Crystal Lake police and the McHenry County coroner’s office are investigating the death of 63-year-old motorcyclist who was struck by an SUV on Sunday night at the intersection of Virginia Road and Rakow Road.
Peter G. O’Grady of Crystal Lake, who was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was struck about 8:50 p.m. by a blue Ford Expedition that was being driven by a male teenager, according to police and the coroner’s office.
The Ford was traveling south on Virginia Road when it turned east onto Rakow Road and struck O’Grady, police said.
O’Grady was taken to Centegra Hospital-Huntley where he was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m., according to the coroner’s office. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
The driver of the Ford Expedition and four passengers were not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
