1) For a beer festival with a twist, don’t miss Beer Mansion, which takes over Morgan’s on Fulton this weekend. An interactive experience spreads over five rooms highlighting different beer styles. 2) Did your garden plot produce a bountiful late summer harvest? Are you sitting on cans of more preserves, sauces and soups than you know what to do with? Just like to bake? The Peterson Garden Project and the Chicago Food Swap invite you to join in this weekend’s money-free food barter. The Chicago Food Swap brings together bakers, makers, gardeners, foragers and homesteaders from all walks to trade homemade and homegrown foods — “swap,” in this case, is literal, as no money changes hands. $5 admission, 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday. 3) Joining a barn raising seems awfully quaint, but this weekend, the Sweet Water Foundation is doing just that at its Perry Ave. Commons, the nonprofit organization’s community hub and urban farm. With cooking demos, live music, art projects and food and drink available for purchase, the barn raising is the main event for the group’s Harvest Fest. The so-called Thought Barn will be Sweet Water Foundation’s first ground-up development, enlisting the community in its construction — the space will host community gatherings, performances and more. 4) Get to know Filipino food culture beyond lumpia and ube. Kultura Festival returns for its third iteration this weekend, this time with a focus on Midwestern Filipinx chefs. Hapa Chicago, Meat on the Street (Milwaukee), Sarap: A Filipino Pop-Up (Detroit), and Skip to Malou and Guerrilla Street Food, both from St. Louis, will serve up everything from tocino poutine (a sweet cured-meat take on the Canadian classic) to a bevy of desserts.
