No one was injured in a house fire early Monday in St. Charles that investigators say was likely accidental.

St. Charles firefighters were called to a single-story house in the 400 block of Jackson Avenue at 2:47 a.m. When they arrived, they found a fire in the basement and first floor of the home and were able to get the flames under control in about 20 minutes, officials said.

The three occupants of the home were able to exit safely after one awoke to a smoke-filled house and called 911, officials said.

Although investigators continue to examine the cause, officials said it’s believed to be an accident.

Officials estimate losses to be about $200,000.

Geneva, Batavia, Elburn and West Chicago fire departments assisted.
