DC United defender Taylor Kemp has been declared out for the rest of the 2017 MLS season, the team confirmed Friday.

Kemp underwent successful surgery in St. Louis for a lower abdominal injury.

“The 27-year-old (Kemp) underwent successful surgery by Dr. Michael Brunt, a hernia specialist in St. Louis, to repair a lower abdominal repair on Thursday, Aug. 15,” the club announced in a statement. “He is expected to be ready for the start of preseason in 2018.”

Kemp has made 22 appearances in the 2017 season, and 101 in his career, all for DC United.
