The Chicago Fire have acquired Cuban defender Jorge Corrales from United Soccer League (USL) affiliate Tulsa Roughnecks on a permanent deal, the team announced on its website.

Corrales will remain on loan with the Roughnecks and retain the option to recall him at any time. His contract runs through the 2018 season, with club options for 2019 and 2020.

“We’ve had the chance to see Jorge quite a bit this season,” said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. “We were impressed by his play with Tulsa and in training with us. This signing is also credit to the competitive environment of the Roughnecks.”

Corrales has made 24 apperances in 25 matches for Tulsa, as well as 34 caps for the Cuban national team.
