Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo made his broadcasting debut for CBS alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz on Sunday.
And while Chicago viewers didn’t get to hear Romo’s call of the Raiders’ 26-16 victory over the Titans, social media highlighted one unique aspect of Romo’s debut.
Several times during the game, Romo correctly predicted which plays teams were going to run before they happened. He even predicted called-out audibles as they happened.
Romo was diagnosing blitzes and would predict where run plays were headed. At one point he told Nantz, “Jim, I got $5 this is a run to the left,” before Titans running back Derrick Henry ran the ball to the left.
When Nantz asked Romo, “What did you see there?” Romo laughed and said, “I’ve seen football in the NFL for 14 years.”
