Venezuelan midfielder Yangel Herrera has been declared out of New York City FC’s upcoming league match against the Portland Timbers, the team confirmed on its website.
Herrera left Venezuela’s 1-1 draw against Argentina on Tuesday with an athletic pubalgia. The team has listed him as day-to-day.
Star forward David Villa could also miss the Timbers duel with an adductor irritation suffered while on international duty with Spain. Villa will be a “late decision,” along with midfielder Alexander Ring, who is listed as “questionable” with a toe injury.
For the Timbers, Gbenga Arokoyo and Chance Myers have been declared as “out,” while Fanendo Adi, Liam Ridgewell, and Jake Gleeson are listed as “questionable.”
