Rather than putting a ton of effort into an outing and then just hitting one spot, why not extend the adventure? This week, we’re pairing a Spanish meal at Black Bull with cocktails and entertainment at Bordel.
Main attraction: Black Bull
1721 W. Division St. 773-227-8600
How much: $10-$45
Impress your date with an authentic Spanish meal at Black Bull—and by authentic, we mean the executive chef literally came from his home country of Spain to cook your food. Try the braised lamb shoulder with wine sauce, black garlic mashed potatoes, slow-cooked baby carrots and broccolini ($25) and don’t skip out on trying a Spanish-style gin and tonic like the Breckenridge with blackberries and basil ($13). If you’re heading into a lazy food coma, don’t sweat it—your second destination is closer than you think.
Don’t stop: Bordel
1721 W. Division St. 773-227-8600
How much: $13-$14
Head to the second floor of Black Bull to enter Wicker Park’s Parisian and prohibition era-inspired speakeasy, Bordel. The velvet accents and dim lighting makes for a cozy end to the date. Come on a Wednesday for live music, Thursdays for burlesque and Fridays for cabaret. We hope you saved room for dessert—the bananas foster old fashioned with rum, cinnamon, maple and walnut bitters will be calling your name ($13).
