A man is in police custody in connection with a Skokie bank robbery Thursday morning at a PNC Bank in Skokie, police said.
Skokie police Officer Eric Swaback said police were notified by the bank at 10:26 a.m. that the robbery had occurred.
FBI agents also responded to the scene, according to a spokesman from the Chicago area FBI office.
The alleged robber was seen fleeing the bank, headed toward a Walmart that shares the same large parking lot as the bank, Swaback said.
Police said they found a man matching the description given for the bank robber in the store. He was placed under arrest, but it was not immediately known whether the man is being held by Skokie police or the FBI.
Swaback said charges are still pending, but money believed to be from the alleged robbery was recovered.
It was still unknown whether the suspect used any kind of weapon, police said, but the suspect allegedly passed a note to a teller before being handed an unknown amount of money and taking off.

The bank was “temporarily closed due to an emergency” Thursday afternoon, according to a sign that was placed in the window after the incident.
The FBI was notified about the bank robbery from the media, according to FBI spokesman Special Agent Garrett H. Croon.
The FBI did not provide any more information immediately following the incident, he said.
“More details will be released later at the FBI bank robbery website as they come in,” he said.
