Chicago police are asking West Side residents to be alert after a woman tried to lure a teenage girl Tuesday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

Around 4:45 p.m., a woman approached a 16-year-old girl who was walking in the 500 block of North Lawndale Avenue. The woman asked the girl what school she went to before she told her that her son attended the same school.
The woman then touched the girl’s school identification, which was around her neck, and told her, “Oh you so pretty, come to my house so you can meet my son.”
The girl ran to a friend’s home and the woman left the scene.
The woman, who was riding a black mountain bike, was described as black, in her 30s or 40s, with a dark complexion, short Afro hairstyle and a heavy build. She was wearing blue jeans and brown boots at the time of the incident.
