Dr. Jerry Gore, author of the book “Holistic Medicine,” will speak at the Northbrook Public Library, 1201 Cedar Lane, at 7 p.m. Sept. 7, on choosing the right fats and sugars. The Northbrook resident will be joined by Katie Bogaard, a naturopathic practitioner at his Center for Holistic Medicine in Riverwoods, where they work with doctors, osteopaths, chiropractors, homeopaths, a psychotherapist and a social worker — Gore’s wife, Carol, the center’s co-founder. Dr. Gore, in practice 33 years, said, in general, that, “It’s a misconception that if you eat a lot of fat, you’ll gain a lot of weight. It really isn’t true. Sugar causes fat.”
