
As Dane, 45, and Marlene Mathews, 43, of Oak Park stood with their puppy, Frida, outside the Oak Park farmers market July 29 in the parking lot of Pilgrim Congregational Church, they answered a few questions for the Oak Leaves.
Q: Anything specific you look forward to picking up at the farmers market?
MM: We just browse sometimes.
DM: We buy anything.
MM: Fruit, squash and the baked goods.
Q: What’s your dog’s name?
MM: Frida.
Q: Like the artist?
MM: Yes. She’s 6 months old. She’s a golden doodle.
Q: Have you had her long?
MM: We got her five months ago. It’s the first puppy for our family.
Q: Favorite summer activity?
DM: Beach.
MM: The beach, the pool. The kids like to go to the pool. Barbecues.
Q: Local restaurant you love?
MM: Autre Monde, on Roosevelt Road in Berwyn.
Q: Are there certain menu items you go back for?
MM: The blood orange gimlet [grinned].
