RIZZO. BRYANT. HEYWARD.
Say goodbye to these familiar names for a weekend. Sort of.
Major League Baseball will relax its policy from Aug. 25-27, allowing players to put nicknames on alternate jerseys inspired by youth-league designs.
The league on Wednesday announced the details of its “Players Weekend.”
The Cubs, who will play in Philadelphia that weekend, tweeted a photo of the jerseys with players’ nicknames.
Same for the White Sox, who will host the Tigers.
And here’s another cool touch: Rather than the traditional MLB logo, players will wear a patch with silhouettes showing five stages of baseball development. Under the words “THANK YOU,” a player can write the name of a player or person instrumental in his development.
And players will wear T-shirts in pregame workouts and postgame interviews highlighting a charity or favorite cause.
Players also will be permitted to wear custom-designed batting gloves and use colorful bats.

MLB will auction off the jerseys on its website. Proceeds will go to the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation.
