At least three people were injured in a crash Tuesday afternoon that shut three lanes of the inbound Eisenhower Expressway.
The crash happened on Interstate 290 near Damen Avenue about 1:20 p.m., according to police. Three people were taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman.
Chicago and state police had released no information about the crash as of about 9:30 p.m.
The expressway was reduced to one inbound lane as police investigated. Entrances to the Eisenhower were closed at California, Western and Damen avenues.
At least one car involved had airbags deployed in the car’s interior. A witness said a young woman was walking and talking after the crash.
A construction worker working on a nearby “L” station said that the crash made a loud noise and he yelled duck because an SUV was rolling.
At the scene, an emergency crew from Ambulance 45 treated a boy and wheeled him into the ambulance. His feet were moving, but he was strapped to a gurney.
