While the possibility of the Ravens bringing in free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick would create ripples throughout the entire organization, the most immediate impact might involve bumping Ryan Mallett from backing up Joe Flacco to third on the depth chart.

But Mallett dismissed any notion about being concerned about his status.

“We’re worried about the Ravens right now,” he said after Sunday evening’s practice at M&T Bank Stadium. “If he comes, cool. If he doesn’t, cool. We don’t really care about that right now.”

With Flacco sidelined by what he described as back stiffness, Mallett has been getting the majority of the reps in training camp with the first offense, and the results were less than desirable. He threw five interceptions during Friday’s practice and two more during Saturday’s session.

But Mallett kept the miscues to a minimum on Sunday and even connected with rookie wide receiver Tim White on a touchdown pass in the back of the end zone during a full-team exercise.

Asked about his performance, Mallett replied, “Decent. I’ve got to get better. This is what training camp is for. … It’s a long training camp, a long preseason, and that’s what this is for.”

Mallett seemed unfazed about making mistakes and more concerned about developing chemistry with wideouts Mike Wallace, Jeremy Maclin, and Breshad Perriman.

“I haven’t had much of an opportunity to work with them until this spring a little bit and now,” he said. “So I’m starting to feel more comfortable with them, and we’re getting more cohesive as a unit – the line, the backs, the tight ends – and I feel good about it.”
