Chicago’s punk-rock mecca, The Alley, is returning to its home on Clark Street, but this time it comes bearing coffee and pizza.

The first floor of the space—at 3221 N. Clark St. across the street from the original store—will go by the name The Alley 1776 and will be home to a cafe featuring Dark Matter coffee and food from their Lakeview neighbors, including Philly’s Best, according to Eater.

The punk-goth Hot Topic-esque shop closed in January 2016 after being in business for decades. Now, the cafe is expected to breathe new life into the shop, alongside the plan to serve up cocktails—namely, tequila, according to Eater’s reporting.

The retail section of the store is set to open next week with free coffee, with the cafe to open shortly thereafter.

Owner Mark Thomas is also toying with the idea of creating a coffee subscription for $66.60 a month—get it?—for unlimited cups and a more mainstream feel. More Beatles, less Alice in Chains. But don’t worry, there’ll still be room for plenty of heavy eyeliner.
