Bastian Schweinsteiger has been voted captain of the MLS All-Star team, which will play Real Madrid on Aug. 2 at Soldier Field.
Via Snapchat voting, fans chose the Fire midfielder over two other candidates, Tim Howard of Colorado Rapids and David Villa of the New York City FC, who had been nominated by All-Star coach Veljko Paunovic.

In addition to Schweinsteiger, the Fire will have three other players on the 24-man roster: defender Johan Kappelhof, midfielder Dax McCarty and striker Nemanja Nikolic.
