Head to the 14th annual Silver Room Block Party (1506 E. 53rd St.) on Saturday, July 15 in Hyde Park for a fun, culture-filled way to enjoy the weather. The outdoor celebration will be full of music, art, dancing and community from noon-10 p.m. Last year’s event attracted more than 15,000 people.

The Soulful Chicago Book Fair (61st Street between Cottage Grove and Martin Luther King Drive) takes place Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Celebrate literacy and literary arts with books, readings, spoken word, songwriting, playwriting and art. The event gives a voice to creators often overlooked in standard venues, and entertainment will be featured throughout the day.
Boar yourself
One of the most anticipated TV moments, the premiere of “Game of Thrones” Season 7, happens this weekend. Brace yourself: The Frontier in Chicago will host a viewing party on Sunday showing the final three episodes of the previous season before Season 7 hits the screen. Tickets to the party cost $30 and come with a wild boar dinner and sides. Glogg (Swedish mulled wine), house wine, honey mead and a “milk of the poppy” cocktail will also be available. Culture Fair
Chinatown will celebrate far east culture and beauty at the 39th annual Chinatown Summer Fair on Sunday, July 16. The festivities (starting at 10 a.m.) include food, art, music, a Dragon and Lion Dance procession and family activities. Attendees will appreciate ancient and modern Chinese customs and culture through both children’s and adult activities.
Hey, batter, batter
Donovan Playground Park in Bridgeport will screen “The Sandlot” on Thursday, July 13. Bring a blanket, some snacks, a few friends and your PF Flyers to this free outdoor event—just make sure not to cross the left-field fence alone. The movie starts at dusk.
