Two men have been charged with fatally shooting three people Friday on a front porch in the Englewood neighborhood.

Jayton Dorsey, 21, and Timothy Gordon, 19, were ordered held without bail Monday afternoon on charges of first-degree murder in the killings of Javon Jackson, Sedrick Ringer and John Hunter. Judge Adam Bourgeois said “these acts that you allegedly committed are acts of horror and terror.”

Friday, Jackson, Ringer and Hunter, were sitting on the front pourch near 5700 South Wells Street when Dorsey, Gordon and another attacker opened fire on the men. All three were hit.

Sedrick Ringer, 50, who lived nearby, was shot in the chest and leg. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson, of the 4700 block of South Shields Avenue, was shot eight times, including in the chest and legs. He was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Hunter, 52, who lived there, died inside the house, and was not accounted for until his family found him inside the home the next day.

When the shooting took place, police were close enough that squad car video cameras captured muzzle flashes and two people running from the area, prosecutors said. Police later took into evidence 43 spent shell casings from the scene–16 .40-caliber, 11 .45-caliber rounds and 16 9mm shells.

Dorsey and Gordon ran south toward 58th Street and Wells, where a white Pontiac sedan had parked, and got into the Pontiac, prosecutors said. They drove off, and Chicago officers who saw them get on the Dan Ryan Expressway at 59th Street and pursued them on the expressway until the Pontiac crashed into an embankment.

Dorsey and Gordon jumped out of the car, ran up the embankment and climbed a barbed-wire fence to get into a closed Illinois Department of Transportation lot at 65th Street and Wentworth Avenue, according to prosecutors. Police found a .45-caliber gun in the car, a .40-caliber gun on the asphalt in the IDOT facility, and a white t-shirt was left on the barbed wire fence.

The two kept trying to escape by running through a nearby neighborhood, but officers were able to track them down with the help of a police helicopter, according to prosecutors and police. They were arrested just before 9 p.m. Friday, according to police. When taken into custody, Dorsey had minor cuts on his hands and a possible blood stain on his hands and Gordon had a cut in the stomach area of his shirt and blood on his hands, prosecutors said. Both were breathing heavily.

Preliminary evaluation of markings on casings fired from the .40-caliber handgun found in the IDOT lot and the .45-caliber handgun found in the car showed they matched the markings on the .40- and .45-caliber casings found at the scene of the shooting, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors and police gave no information on a possible motive for the killings.

Dorsey, 7500 Block of South Union Avenue, and Gordon, of the 100 block of East Center Street in Glenwood, are due back in court July 21.
