Jon Stromberg, 81, of Lake Forest is a member of its Century Club in horseback riding as recognized by the Dressage Foundation. That means that the combined age of Stromberg and his horse is at least 100 years.

Q. Where do you typically ride?

A. Bristol, Wisconsin.

Q. Do you see many riders your age?

A. No.

Q. When did you start riding horses?

A. When I was young, I rode for a couple summers when I was at kid’s summer camp. I always thought someday I would get back to riding. When I was 51 or 52, I said, I better start riding now or I’m not going to do it.

Q. What is dressage riding?

A. It’s more classical riding. Old world classical riding.

Q. When did you start doing dressage riding?

A. In 1999.

Q. When were you recognized as a member of the Century Club?

A. In June 2014. I was 79 at the time.

Q. How old was your horse?

A. He was 23 at that time. He’s now retired, but I rode him for 15 years.

Q. Is there a riding test?

A. Yes, there is. There are judges. You have to walk, trot, cantor and circle.
