Durelle Hall, 26, of Woodstock, was arrested at her home Wednesday on charges that she sold cocaine to an undercover informant near Northwood Middle School, authorities said.
Hall, who is pregnant, appeared in a McHenry County courtroom Thursday before Judge Sharon Prather, who had allowed the defendant to remain free on bond on the drug-induced homicide case after she was charged with retail theft a few months ago.
“Ms. Hall, you are in a whole lot of trouble,” the judge said.
Hall, dressed in orange jail garb, quietly responded: “I know.”
Prather ordered Hall to be held without bond on the new charges, which include delivery of cocaine near a school, several other drug-related felonies and child endangerment.
The judge also imposed a $1 million bond for the drug-induced homicide charge that was lodged against Hall in 2015 in connection to the death of 20-year-old Chelsie Kumm of Marengo. Hall was accused of supplying the heroin that killed Kumm and is due to stand trial on that charge in July.
In the new case against Hall, authorities allege that she sold cocaine to the informant May 9. They obtained a warrant to search her home and found more than 1,700 grams of marijuana and 17 grams of cocaine, with an estimated street value of more than $37,000, according to prosecutors and court records.
When officers went to Hall’s home, her young child was present and there was “an overwhelming smell of cannabis,” Assistant State’s Attorney Randi Freese said.
“She is a danger to society and her own child at home. She has no respect for this court or the charges she is facing,” Freese told the judge.
Prather reminded the defendant that she had previously “made it absolutely clear to you … what would happen if you violated” the terms of her release on bond.
