Not every dad wants a new tie or hopes to play golf on Father’s Day. In Lake County, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the greatest man in the world.

Familes can start the morning with a Father’s Day Beer Brunch at the Illinois Beach Resort, 1 Lake Front Drive, Zion. Choose from a buffet of favorites, including a chicken wing station, prime rib, oysters on the half shell, St. Louis style ribs, apple-smoked bacon and more. Cost is $35.95 for adults, $17 for children 6 to 11, and $6.95 for children 3 to 5. Call 847-625-7300 for reservations or visit ilresorts.com/fathers-day-beer-brunch/ for a complete menu.

Another brunch option is at Lambs Farm, an organization that helps people with developmental disabilities lead productive, happy lives. The public is encouraged to come for brunch and tour the campus, 14245 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville. Seatings are at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., costing $24.95 for adults, and $10.95 ages 2 to 12. Call the Magnolia Cafe for reservations at 847-362-5050.

In Fox Lake, a brunch buffet is offered at Dino’s Den, 88 E. Grand Ave. Cost is $16.99 for adults, and $10.99 for children ages 4 to 12, and includes non-alcoholic drinks. Menu items include omelet and carving stations, breakfast and lunch items, a full salad bar and dessert table. Reservations are suggested by calling 847-587-6604.

For an uncomplicated brew, try Lake Bluff Brewing Company, 16 E. Scranton Ave., Lake Bluff. Regular taps include Honey Badger Golden Ale, Inspiration IPA, and Skull & Bones Imperial Red. Master brewer Michael Dorneker updates the five or so more seasonal options on the website, www.lbbrew.com. Food can be ordered from neighboring Maevery Public House. Lake Bluff Brewing Company will be open Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wine enthusiasts can try Vigneto del Bino Vineyard and Winery, 42150 Crawford Road, Antioch. The winery is offering special Father’s Day discounts on food and wine from noon to 5 p.m.

Car enthusiasts can help raise money for Lake County Honor Flight — which sends local war veterans to visit memorials in Washington D.C. — by attending the Libertyville Father’s Day Charity Car Show from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., held at Libertyville Chevrolet, 1001 S. Milwaukee Ave. Admission is $3 per person or $5 per car load. Proceeds will go to Honor Flight, according to Tom Arvidson, spokesman for the North Shore Corvette Club, which is organizing the event.

As part of the Libertyville Days, there will be an open house at Ansel B. Cook Home, 413 N. Milwaukee Ave. Hosted by the Libertyville Mundelein Historical Society, a suggested donation is $2 for adults, and $1 for children.

Also, a “Dads Eating Hotdogs” contest will be at Libertyville Days beer garden at 3 p.m. Registration will be in front of the main stage on Church Street for anyone age 18 and over.

The Park District of Highland Park is hosting a Father’s Day Family Adventure from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Heller Nature Center, 2821 Ridge Road. Designed for all ages, dads and kids alike can use GPS to find clues, work together to build fires, shoot arrows, and build shelters in the woods. At the end, the park will provide grills for participants to bring their own dinners to cook. The cost is $12. Visit www.pdhp.org for more information or to register.

If music is the scene, the Jimmy Mac Duo will perform at The Harbor’s Edge, 175 N. Harbor Place, Waukegan, from 6 to 9 p.m.
