Charges have been filed against a northwest suburban woman after a toddler was found alone at Chicago’s Rainbow Beach Park on the South Side over the weekend.

Shadonna J. McFadden, 28, of the first block of Oxford Drive in Carpentersville, was charged with a misdemeanor count of child endangerment.

The boy was found around 10 p.m. Sunday near 75th Street and the lakefront. He was reunited with his family more than 12 hours later, according to police.

The department had sought the public’s help identifying the boy and released his photo with a description of the boy’s clothing.

The woman’s relationship to the boy is not clear. Police said McFadden “caused the circumstances to endanger the life and health of a child by leaving the child alone and unattended.”

McFadden was due in court June 27.
