A Chicago police officer was injured when he was dragged by a minivan during a traffic stop in the city’s West Chatham neighborhood Saturday night.
Officers stopped a man driving a minivan in the 200 block of West 76th Street about 8:35 p.m. He refused to get out of his car and sped off, pinning an officer between the passenger side door and vehicle, according to police.
The officer was dragged to 7600 South Eggleston Avenue, where the driver struck a pole, police said. He was taken into custody, and a weapon was recovered from the scene.
The officer was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
