Sprinkles is releasing a new cupcake flavor to give you a mid-week boost

Need a sweet treat fix to get you through this post-long weekend week? Sprinkles (50 E. Walton St. 312-573-1600) has just the sugar high you need, in the form of a new cupcake: pineapple upside-down cake.

Tell your old favorite flavor goodbye and grab a box of these golden-hued beauties created by Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson. The cupcakes are made from a pineapple cake filled with caramelized bits of pineapple and topped with a swirl of pineapple buttercream frosting.

The new flavor came to fruition after the cupcakery received “hundreds of customer requests” to turn this classic summer treat into a cupcake. The newest menu addition will be available starting June 1 and will cost $3.95.
