A man who was shot on May 19 in the Lawndale neighborhood has died, officials said.

An autopsy Monday determined Brandon Phipps, 30, died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Phipps was pronounced dead Saturday at 5:18 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to the office.

Phipps, of the 1300 block of South Albany Avenue, was shot about 9:15 a.m. in the 3100 block of West 13th Street on May 19, police said at the time.

He was sitting in a vehicle when someone exited another vehicle and opened fire in his direction. He was shot twice in the side, and was initially taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

The shooter was described as being 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-11, between the ages of 25 and 30, and wearing white or gray jeans and a black hoodie, police said.

Area Central detectives are investigating, but no one has been arrested.
