Tight end Zach Miller had Mike Glennon’s cellphone number even before the quarterback signed with the Bears a few months ago — the two played for the Buccaneers during the 2013 season.

Now, the entire offense has it, and Miller hopes the off-field bond the starting quarterback has built with his teammates will translate to the field.

“(The bond is) probably more prevalent now than … any other team I’ve been a part of,” Miller said Saturday at the 22nd annual Bears Care Gala at Soldier Field. “It’s a special group.”

Miller knows, too, that first-round draft pick Mitch Trubisky figures into the Bears’ plans. Both quarterbacks were at the charity event, which has granted nearly $14 million to Chicago-area research and treatment programs for breast and ovarian cancer.

“Hopefully (Trubisky) gets time to develop and really can blossom into a superstar,” Miller said.
