An Aurora man has been charged with drunken driving after police said his vehicle was found stuck on a hill outside the Illinois Math and Science Academy.

David Kline, 28, 500 block of South Sumner Avenue, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, improper lane usage, no insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol and resisting a peace officer at 1:21 p.m. Saturday, Aurora police said.

According to police, an officer was dispatched to the area of Sullivan Road and Lincolnshire Drive for reports of an accident. A witness allegedly saw Kline’s vehicle strike a mailbox. Minutes later, dispatch contacted the officer and reported that another caller stated that a vehicle had crashed at the Illinois Math and Science Academy, 1500 W. Sullivan Road.

Police arrived and found Kline’s vehicle in the grass on top of a hill. He was apparently inside the vehicle attempting to get the vehicle off the hill, police said. Officers said when they approached Kline he became combative and refused orders to shut the vehicle off. They also said that Kline appeared intoxicated.

Officers eventually took Kline into custody.
