It was just another day in the office today at RedEye Chicago, but with two adorable and totally adoptable puppies delivered by Uber from The Anti-Cruelty Society.
In honor of National Pet Week, ride-hailing service Uber partnered with The Anti-Cruelty Society, on May 10 in delivering puppies on-demand for instant cuddles. Puppy delivery will continue until 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The four-hour service which started at 11 a.m. aims to find permanent homes for puppies in need of a family, all while spreading fur-love across the city of Chicago. A 15-minute visit with the puppies will cost $30; proceeds will benefit The Anti-Cruelty Society and their mission to spread awareness about the importance of adopting animals rather than shopping for them.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, each year 2.4 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when searching for a pet. The Anti-Cruelty Society wants to emphasize the value of adopting your new pet and in doing so, possibly saving the life of an animal in need.
Today, the RedEye team got to meet two adorable brother-and-sister Plott Hound babies, Saddle and Saffron. Both puppies are available to adopt at The Anti-Cruelty Society, located at 510 N. Lasalle Drive.
To apply for adoption, simply visit the shelter, meet and play with the puppies to see if you would be a good match, and apply online. The application process requires a screening, but the entire process can be completed in one day and you could go home with a furry new friend.
This is the second time that Uber has partnered with The Anti-Cruelty Society for on-demand puppy delivery in Chicago, though the service has taken place in other major U.S. cities. So get out your phones, order some puppies, or head on over to the shelter to get your cuddle on!
