Taylor Gourmet, the Washington, D.C.-based sandwich chain known for its Philadelphia-style sandwiches, is bringing a taste of Philly to the Loop.

The upcoming location at 1 N. Dearborn St., expected to open later this year, will be the first outside of D.C., Maryland and Virginia, according to DCist, which reported the news today.

Though no exact opening date for the Loop location was announced, it likely won’t be the only Taylor Gourmet coming to the city. “Nothing is confirmed, but let’s just say we’re not looking to only open one location in a city that we’re going to,” the spokesperson told DCist.

Taylor Gourmet co-founders Casey Patten and David Mazza are from Philadelphia and modeled their fast-casual menu after the hoagies and cheesesteaks their hometown is known for. The Chicago location is expected to have the same menu. Favorites include the 9th, a hoagie with Genoa salami, hot capicola, prosciutto and sharp provolone (a nod to Philadelphia’s 9th Street Italian Market); the Locust, a hoagie with herb-roasted turkey, sharp provolone, Roma tomato, red onion and vinaigrette; and two cheesesteaks (though neither with Cheez Whiz).

Taylor Gourmet currently operates 12 locations. Stay tuned for more info, and check out www.taylorgourmet.com for a full menu.
