A 42-year-old Western Springs man has been charged with felony aggravated battery and domestic battery after allegedly punching a household member in the face multiple times.

John H. Petzold, Jr. of the 4900 block of Woodland Avenue, was arrested at 10:54 p.m. Monday after Western Springs police responded to a domestic violence call. The victim declined medical attention.

During the course of the investigation, police said they also learned that Petzold, Jr. committed acts of harassment by electronic communication in Orland Hills on April 10 and he was charged with a misdemeanor offense. Petzold, Jr. also violated court conditions of a bail bond that was issued from a previous arrest in October of 2016, police said.

Bond for Petzold, Jr. was set at $25,000 on April 12 in Cook County 5th District Circuit Court.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, Petzold, Jr. was previously convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault. He was 31 and his victim was 4 at the time, according to the registry.
