No tickets were issued after a pedestrian was hit by a pickup truck in Aurora.
According to police, the crash occurred at 4:53 a.m. Tuesday near Molitor Road and Lily Street.
According to police, the pedestrian, a 26-year-old Aurora man, was walking in the middle of the roadway, wearing dark clothing, when he was struck by an oncoming pickup truck. The driver told police that he was driving westbound on Molitor Road and was starting to slow down for a stop sign. It was raining and due to the glare of the roadway and the headlights, it was difficult to see, he told police.
The driver said all of a sudden, he saw a pedestrian in the middle of the roadway. The driver did not have time to stop, and struck the pedestrian with his truck. The man fell to the ground and the truck rolled over him.
The pedestrian was transported to an Aurora hospital for treatment.
Police said that the pedestrian smelled of alcohol and had loud music playing over his phone’s speaker at the time of the incident.
Due to the man walking in the center of the roadway, being allegedly under the influence, and without any reflective clothing or contrasting colors, no citations were issued to the truck’s driver, police said.
