In the Lake Forest District 115 race, the four candidates recommended by the Lake Forest Caucus were leading with all 25 precincts reporting, according to unofficial results on the Lake County Clerk’s website.

Tomas Nemickas, Sally Davis, Robert “Ted” Moorman and Dave Lane each had about 18 percent of the vote, while the candidates of the Lake Forest Citizens Committee – Jennifer Neubauer, Patrick Marshall, Lisa Mienville and Cindy Good – each had about 6 percent, according to the Lake County Clerk’s website.

Eight candidates ran for four open seats on the Board of Education. Vote totals are unofficial until confirmed.

“I believe voters responded positively to our engagement on the substantive issues,” Davis said after unofficial results were in. “I think they recognized that we are not like-minded, but moderates who are open-minded. I think they responded to run a clean positive campaign.”

Several residents voting at the Gorton Community Center on Tuesday afternoon said the race was particularly important to them.

“We’ve had some people challenging our current board, and I want to see them stay,” Eve Rochelemagne said.

Chris Chakoian said that while she always votes, the high school board race was important, as it was far more competitive than usual.

Gregory Smith agreed.

“The high school board is highly disputed this year,” he said. “I got a lot of mailings from both sides.”

While the caucus-backed candidates said they saw room for improvement at Lake Forest High School, they said the school is adequately funded and where it should be academically.

The Lake Forest Citizen’s Committee, in contrast, questioned how money is spent, academic achievement and whether one candidate on the opposing slate could take office if elected.
