Parents probably wish their kids would clean their rooms as thoroughly as they scoured Memorial Park in La Grange Park looking to fill baskets with brightly colored eggs.
No egg was left behind at the 26th egg hunt hosted by Community Park District of La Grange Park. The event drew about 400 children. It was free and open to children 8 and under.
Three thousand eggs and 50 pounds of chocolate eggs were placed in the park for the kids to find. Some eggs had slips of paper inside them, which entitled the finders to small toys.
“They were for stuffed animals, candy and trinkets of that kind,” said Dean Carrara, superintendent of recreation.
The Easter Bunny was on hand to greet the kids and watch as they gleefully searched for and amassed their prizes.
Carrara said the event is always well attended and, thanks to the kids, clean-up is a snap.
“Everything is cleaned up in about 90 seconds,” he said.
