The following items were taken from the Franklin Park and Northlake police departments’ reports and press releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.
Franklin Park
Theft
*Arturo Bastida, 46, of the 1500 block of 31st Avenue, Melrose Park, was charged with retail theft in an incident police allege happened in the 10000 block of Grand Avenue on March 15 at 11:19 p.m. Officers allege Bastida tried to steal 79 cosmetic items, two bottles of Vodka, and miscellaneous food items from a grocery store. Together, the items he reportedly stole had an estimated value of $1,900, police said.
Criminal damage to property
*A tan 2008 Mazda MX6 parked in the 3400 block of Ruby Street was reported damaged on March 18 at 8:52 a.m. Officers say someone threw a rock at the vehicle’s rear window, shattering it. However nothing appeared to be missing from inside the vehicle, police said.
Theft of a motor vehicle
*A black 1996 Honda Accord was reported stolen from the 3000 block of Prairie Street on March 18 at 11:54 a.m.
*A red Dodge Durango and a blue Chevrolet Malibu were reported stolen from the 3800 block of Mannheim Road on March 18 around 8:41 p.m. The two vehicles were reported stolen from the parking lot of a car retail business.
Northlake
Malicious mischief
*A home in the 200 block of South Roy Avenue was reported vandalized on March 19 at 9:50 p.m. The homeowner told police he was in his front room when he heard a loud bang. After looking outside, the homeowner says he saw egg yolk on his home’s window.
*A home in the 100 block of North Prater Avenue was reported vandalized on March 19 at 9:51 p.m. The caller said the front window had been egged.
