A Hazel Crest man is facing a weapons charge after Oak Lawn officers allegedly found the driver in possession of a .40-caliber handgun, police said.
Marquis Dean, 21, appeared in Cook County bond court and received a $20,000 bond, Oak Lawn police said.
Dean is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon as a felon, possession of ammunition without a FOID card and possession of stolen property, officials said.
Officers allegedly arrested Dean during a traffic stop on Friday, police said. Two other occupants of the vehicle Dean was driving also allegedly were arrested on outstanding warrants, while a third was charged with obstructing identification, officials said.
The incident at about 8 p.m. when an officer allegedly noticed a vehicle committing numerous traffic violations while eastbound in the 4600 block of 95th Street, police said.
The driver allegedly admitted to having marijuana on his person, police said. A search of the vehicle revealed an alleged stolen, loaded handgun under a floor mat.
Dean also was cited for possession of marijuana and for several traffic violations, police said.
Reginald Williams, 21, of Hazel Crest, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense, police said. Kwamaine Tarver, 22, of Richton Park, also was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense. Anthony Sheko, 20, of Country Club Hills, was charged with obstructing identification, police said.
