The NCAA tournament is in full bloom. Here are the winners and the losers thus far.
Loser: Bryce Drew
Vanderbilt coach calls last timeout with seven minutes left. Vanderbilt offense strategy was a dumpster fire. And that misguided intentional foul at the end is on the coach. In the hot college basketball coach hiring market, Drew’s stock plummets.
Winner: TruTV
The broadcast home to “Chris Webber’s Full Court Pranks” and “Impractical Jokers” draws an audience that can’t remember what channel it’s on and won’t tune in again until next March.
Loser: New Jersey
As the pride of the Garden State battled Notre Dame Thursday, the state’s governor Chris Christie was there, in person, rooting against Princeton from right behind the Notre Dame bench.
Winner: Bill Murray
First the Cubs. Now Xavier.
Loser: Indiana
Just as the best day in college basketball was getting going, school announces they canned coach Tom Crean. More bad timing for the Hoosiers.
Loser: Elijah Macon
It’s bad enough West Virginia forward Elijah Macon took a point-blank pass to the face from the Bucknell player he was guarding — “It’s like a sucker punch,” said CBS announcer Verne Lundquist — but it also sounded like Lundquist called him “Elijah Bacon” during the first half. Although, is being called bacon really a bad thing?
Winner: Northwestern celebs
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Brad Hall, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg and Mike Wilbon among others were at the NU-Vanderbilt game. Yet no sign of Vanderbilt stars Jay Cutler or Skip Bayless …

Loser: Illinois
As if trying to lure a quality coach to Champaign isn’t hard enough, now Illini have to compete with a much more desirable program in Bloomington, Ind.
Winner: The snack hoodie
Charles Barkley eats chips out of an orange hoodie he’s wearing backwards in a Capital One commercial. “You’ve gone mad,” says Spike Lee. “It’s a very fine line between madness and genius,” Barkley shoots back. Indeed it is.”
Loser: Bobby Knight
Nothing new here, but just a reminder that the once revered coach and NCAA tournament legend has become an embarrassment.
