Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

From losing our minds over tableside tricks at the Chicago Magic Lounge to finding ways to give back at the Chicago Volunteer Expo, here’s what we’re up to this weekend.

FROSTY FUN
Cure cabin fever at the third annual Frost Fest, happening this weekend on Halsted Street and Waveland Avenue. The two-day winter extravaganza boasts Lakeview’s largest craft beer festival on Saturday, Feb. 25, which features beers and ciders from 50 local brewers. Chill out and dance to live music in the 5,000-square-foot heated tent while you sample up to 15 beers at one of two tasting sessions: 1-4 p.m. or 6-9 p.m. General admission tickets are $35 or $10 for designated drivers. If booze isn’t your thing, grab a spoon for Frost Fest’s Soup Walk on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 1 to 5 p.m.

WE’D LIKE TO THANK THE ACADEMY
Slip into your comfy pants and snag your spot on the red carpet (aka a couch) for the 89th Academy Awards ceremony, airing Sunday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. on ABC. Whether you’re a true movie aficionado or just cheering on your celeb crush, anyone can appreciate a good tear-filled acceptance speech or disastrous dress choice at the Oscars. Jimmy Kimmel hosts this year, and you too can join in the celebration of some of 2016’s best films and performances from the comfort of your own home.

ART IN THE DARK
Make date night a work of art at After Dark, a late-night event hosted in the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago on select Fridays throughout the year. Special edition “After Dark: Xtra Loud” will be held this Friday, Feb. 24, from 8 p.m. to midnight and feature psychedelic pop group Os Mutantes and the exhibit “Helio Oiticica: To Organize Delirium.” Enjoy a tour of the exhibition, a live musical performance, complimentary appetizers and cocktails from their cash bar. Tickets are $40 for members and students and $50 for adults.

ABRACADABRA
Looking for a spellbinding weekend endeavor? Head to Uptown Underground (4707 N. Broadway Ave. 773-867-1946) for a non-traditional Chicago Magic Lounge show on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. Immerse yourself in a night of close-up “Chicago-style” magic, while professional magicians perform tricks at your table, at the bar and on stage. Tickets go for $22.50-$35.50. If you can’t catch the Thursday show, see it on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

HELPING HANDS
Find out where you can lend a helping hand at the fifth annual Chicago Volunteer Expo on Sunday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The expo, hosted at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (2430 N. Cannon Dr. 773-755-5100) gives guests a chance to check out over 85 nonprofit organizations from all over the city to discover volunteer opportunities that align with their passions—whether it’s the environment, social justice or animals. Admission is free and pre-registration is encouraged but not required.
