A Roselle woman was charged last month with burglary for allegedly entering a Glen Ellyn home in her role as a real estate agent and stealing several pieces of jewelry, police said.
Jamie B. Detwiler, 37, already facing similar charges in Wheaton and Palatine, entered a Glen Ellyn home that was for sale on Oct. 6 and allegedly took the jewelry, according to Bill Holmer, Glen Ellyn’s assistant chief of police.
Detwiler was charged in Wheaton and Palatine in November, but Glen Ellyn police did not file charges against her until late January when they had sufficient evidence to support the charges, Holmer said.
“She was accessing homes through her role as a real estate agent. In some cases people didn’t even know they were missing items for some time,” Holmer said.
Holmer said he did not have a total value of items Detwiler was alleged to have taken, but he said police did recover one ring that was valued at $5,300 related to the Glen Ellyn charges.
Detwiler was in the DuPage County jail awaiting trial for the other charges when Glen Ellyn police filed their charges against her, Holmer said.
