Candidates in Waukegan’s mayoral race will appear Thursday evening at Wesley Free Methodist Church for a town hall meeting, which is open to the public.
The event, sponsored by the Waukegan Cares Foundation, begins at 7 p.m. at 3601 N. Lewis Ave. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., said Tom Granger, events coordinator at the foundation.
All three candidates — incumbent Mayor Wayne Motley; Ald. Sam Cunningham, 1st; and Ald. Lisa May, 7th — have been invited, Granger said. Cunningham and May have confirmed they will appear, he added, but Motley has not.
Motley and Cunningham are running against each other in the Feb. 28 Democratic primary. The winner will face May, who is running as an independent, in the April 4 general election.
All three candidates previously appeared at a Feb. 2 forum hosted by the Nickels and Dimes neighborhood association at Oak Grove Elementary School, but that event was not open to the public.
