A 29-year-old Aurora woman has been charged with drug-induced homicide in connection with an Oswego man’s fatal heroin overdose in 2014.

Charging documents filed in Kendall County Circuit Court allege that on Aug. 23, 2014, Stevi Myerscough of Aurora delivered heroin to Chester Secor, 44, Oswego, and that Secor died as a result of using the heroin.

Drug-induced homicide is a Class X felony.

Kendall County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched Aug. 24, 2014, for an unresponsive man on the 0-99 block of West Anchor Drive in Oswego Township. Secor was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a sheriff’s office news release. An autopsy conducted by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office indicated he died of a heroin overdose, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation, through which they determined an acquaintance of Secor’s had provided him with a fatal dose of heroin, according to the sheriff’s office.

On Jan. 27, the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Myerscough with drug-induced homicide. Members of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force took Myerscough into custody without incident Feb. 1 and transported her to the county jail, where she remains with bail set at $100,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

She is next scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Feb. 14 before Judge Timothy McCann in Room 113 of the Kendall County courthouse in Yorkville.

In a typed answer to a motion for pre-trial discovery filed Feb. 2, an attorney representing Myerscough through the Kendall County Public Defender’s Office stated that Myerscough is not guilty.

Myerscough had been living at Hesed House in Aurora, where she has mostly resided over the past four years, and is employed full-time as a janitor in Montgomery, according to court documents.

Myerscough denied any current or previous drug and alcohol use, according to court documents, which also indicate that her last non-traffic offense occurred in 2009.

In 2009 in Cook County, she was convicted of three separate counts of prostitution, according to court documents. For the latest, in September 2009, she was sentenced to six days in prison with two years of conditional discharge.

In July 2009 in Cook County, she had been convicted of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in a vehicle and sentenced to two years’ probation, according to court documents. In 2008, she was convicted of retail theft in both Kane and Kendall counties, according to court documents.
