A 23-year-old Aurora man has been charged with felony attempted burglary to a home on Aurora’s East Side.

At about 4 p.m. Monday, police responded to a 911 call from a woman who lived in the home, on the 500 block of East Ashland, according to information the department published on its Facebook page Wednesday.

The woman said two men were trying to break in through a rear door, according to police.

The men had initially knocked at her front door, and when she looked out a window, she saw them walk around to the back of the residence, police said. She then heard loud banging, locked herself in her bedroom and called police, according to the Facebook post.

When officers got to the home, the two men had already left without taking anything, according to police.

An officer saw one man on the 500 block of Parker and was able to detain him based on the description given by the woman, according to police.

The officer also talked to a witness who had seen the same man at the front door of the home on East Ashland, police said.

Davonte D. Gregory, 23, of the 400 block of Titsworth Court, was charged with attempted residential burglary, a class 2 felony, according to Kane County court records. Gregory was booked Wednesday into the Kane County Jail, where he remains with bail set at $5,000, according to the jail’s online booking records.

Police are still searching for the other man allegedly involved in the incident.

“We do not have a good description of the other man involved,” police said in the post.
