A Forest Park shop will host a Valentine’s event benefitting a local nonprofit that helps those affected by domestic violence.

“From the Heart at Yearbook” will be held from 7-10 p.m. Feb. 9 at Yearbook, 7316 Madison St. The event, which raises money for domestic violence shelter Sarah’s Inn, will feature hors d’oeuvres, drinks, live music and private shopping.

Vintage typewriter stations will offer the opportunity to write old-fashioned love letters. Artist Nina Nightingale will make vintage “shade cut” silhouette portraits.

“There’s sort of a vintage theme to everything we do,” said Jef Anderson, who co-owns Yearbook with Noel Eberline.

Anderson said they try to partner with local organizations each year when hosting events that bring people into the store. An event focused on giving of the heart and helping women and families in need seemed appropriate, he said.

Carol Gall, executive director of Sarah’s Inn, said the event offers the opportunity for the nonprofit to spread the word about its vital programs and services to victims of domestic violence.

“It’s always so wonderful when community businesses and organizations partner with us in this way,” Gall said, adding that the money raised is beneficial, too. “It’s also a great way for us to connect with new individuals in the community.”

Anderson said these events typically draw about 30 people, but “because it’s a charitable event and we want to make as much as we can for Sarah’s Inn, we’ll probably push that number.”
