A man has been charged with burglary after witnesses chased him down Friday morning on Aurora’s East Side, police said.

About 3:30 a.m. Friday, Bryan R. Marusarz, 23, of the 4300 block of Bayhead Court in Aurora, was charged with burglary, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email.

In the parking lot of his apartment complex, Marusarz allegedly was seen inside a vehicle which was not his and checking other vehicles to see if they were locked, Ferrelli said.

When two witnesses saw Marusarz inside the vehicle, they called 911, then asked him what he was doing, Ferrelli said. Marusarz ran, with the two witnesses chasing him, Ferrelli said.

As Marusarz was getting out of the vehicle, he dropped some items of clothing that belonged to the owner of the vehicle he is accused of breaking into, Ferrelli said.

As he was sprinting away, Marusarz fell, hitting his head on the pavement, Ferrelli said.

The two witnesses stood by him until police arrived, Ferrelli said.

Marusarz was taken to an Aurora hospital for treatment of a minor head wound, Ferrelli said.
