Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As he left the Oak Park Public Library on Jan. 8, Melvin Turner, 29, of Oak Park stopped to answer a few questions for the Oak Leaves.

Q: Favorite local restaurants?

A: Bar Louie, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks. I love coffee, especially in the morning.

Q: Anything you’re looking forward to in the new year?

A: I want to get out of Chicago; it’s too cold. Maybe Florida, or Cancun. I need a vacation.

Q: I notice your Chicago sports team pants.

A: Yeah, I’m a Blackhawks fan, Bulls, and I like the Golden State Warriors. There are several teams I root for.

Q: Last movie you saw?

A: “Elf.”

Q: What brought you to the library today?

A: I just got off work. When I get some time alone, I just want to relax, enjoy a nice atmosphere. Smile and add a little warmth.

Q: What’s your occupation?

A: I work for a car wash detail. It pays the bills, puts a little money in my pocket.

Q: Hidden gem of Oak Park or River Forest?

A: FFC. And there’s a lot of nice restaurants. Oak Park’s downtown is lovely.
