The Village of Hampshire is asking the community to write letters to the Illinois Department of Transportation about their feelings regarding the intersection of Illinois 72 and Brier Hill Road.
People can write a letter and send it to: Village of Hampshire, Attn: IDOT Letters, P.O. Box 457, Hampshire, IL 60140, or the letter can be emailed to: [email protected].
“You do not need to be a resident of the village to write a letter. If you have friends or family in another town that drives the route or has made a comment about the intersection, they can also write a letter,” said Hampshire Trustee Mike Reid. “The village will be sure to make copies and send them to IDOT on your behalf. The more letters the village receives, the better chance it has that IDOT will do something about the safety of the intersection in a timely manner.”
“Thanks to the Hampshire Police Department, Hampshire Fire Protection District, Hampshire Township, IDOT, and State Representative Steve Anderson for all working together to start the ball rolling on this for our community.”
