A house was burglarized and a car stolen over the weekend on the same block of Aurora’s East Side, according to police.

About $1,800 worth of jewelry was taken from what appears was an unsecured home during a residential burglary between 5 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the 700 block of Sheridan Street, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email.

At about 9:40 p.m. Sunday, a silver 2000 Pontiac G-6 left running and unattended was stolen from a different resident’s driveway on the same block, Ferrelli said. The car, for which no value is listed, has Illinois tag V276270, Ferrelli said.

Police have no suspects in either offense and don’t know if they are related, Ferrelli said.

Police ask anyone with information to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
