Although the Monday afternoon fire at a bar and grill on Aurora’s North Side was small and contained to an electrical box in the kitchen, the business is closed pending a health department inspection, according to fire officials.

At about 4:54 p.m. Monday, the fire broke out in a single story bar and grill on the 1600 block of North Farnsworth Avenue, according to a news release from the Aurora Fire Department. An employee extinguished the fire before firefighters arrived, confining it to the electrical box, according to the news release.

The probable cause of the fire, which cost about $5,000 in damage, is an electrical issue, according to fire officials.

“The extinguishment efforts in the kitchen require that the business will be closed until inspected by the Kane County Health Department,” fire officials said Tuesday in the news release.

No one was injured in the fire, according to fire officials.
